A graduate of Carnegie Mellon’s School of Design, Jennifer McNulty designed the office interiors for both the Calm Pittsburgh Lawrenceville and Monroeville locations and continues to support Calm’s space needs in a consultant capacity through her business, Floure Co.
Fascinated by the intersection of design and wellness, Jennifer’s work explores how thoughtful design can positively affect mood and support well-being. To that end, many natural elements were selected for the Calm office spaces — decor in a variety of wood finishes, textural fabrics, ceramics, and botanical touches. Throughout the practice, Calm’s signature deep blue is paired with a palette of earth tones intended to evoke the business’s namesake “calm.”
Jennifer is also a visual artist who created prints, paintings, and custom finishes for the Calm offices.
Inspiration: A blue/white cyanotype of a dandelion inspired the Calm logo, which lead to the creation of the website, followed by the look of the office interiors.
“Beyond providing nice visuals, thoughtful design can evoke a welcome physical response — to soothe or excite; provide a sense of safety, or deliver a dose of delight.”
