F.A.Q.s

Common questions… answered!

• Why therapy? Are you feeling sad, anxious, depressed, or stressed regarding life, work, or relationships? Therapy can help greatly — illuminating options and insights that can lead to new actions and positive change. Therapy can be sought for any number of reasons — to support needs or issues within yourself, or as a result of challenges with someone or something in your life.

• Is Calm Pittsburgh right for me? How do I get started? Treatment at Calm Pittsburgh™ is driven from a place of building therapeutic rapport. We match you with a professional counselor — aiming for an appropriate and comfortable fit which allows you to “open up” to do the therapeutic “work” that is needed. At Calm Pittsburgh™ we provide a welcoming environment where our clinicians can work with you collaboratively and at your pace. Starting is as simple as completing the form available on our Services or Contact Us pages. We will be in touch to schedule an initial appointment.

• What techniques are used at Calm Pittsburgh™? Our therapists employ a variety of eclectic, evidence-based techniques to help our clients navigate feelings, build better behaviors, and relate to thoughts differently. These techniques include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Compassion Focused, Family/Marital, Interpersonal, Mindfulness, Narrative, Person-Centered, Positive Psychology, Reality Therapy, Strength Based Brief Therapy, Sex Therapy, and Trauma Focused Therapy.

• What does therapy cost? Therapy is an investment in yourself as you seek to balance and create your best life. Therapy is covered by many insurances and often includes an out-of-pocket co-pay. Calm Pittsburgh accepts most major insurances. Please visit our Rates page for more details.

• How long do I need to attend therapy sessions? It depends. Some seek therapy with a very specific problem they need to solve and might find a few sessions to be sufficient. Others may incorporate therapy services into their regular self-care, on a weekly or monthly basis, for a longer time period. The number of sessions varies by condition and treatment type, which can be guided by how you and your counselor are feeling about your progress and your sense of well-being.

• Where are you located? Calm Pittsburgh™ has two locations in the Greater Pittsburgh area: Lawrenceville and Monroeville. See below for our addresses, or contact us for availability at either location. (View office photos here). We also offer virtual therapy sessions via phone or video conference.
