Meet Mackenzie Westfield
Graduate Intern
LOCATION: Virtual, Lawrenceville
Mackenzie Westfield is a graduate student at Robert Morris University, earning her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She has experience working with adults with various disorders on a Behavioral Health unit at UPMC, as well as she has worked with teens and young adults who experienced varying levels of trauma during her undergraduate internship at a rape crisis center. Mackenzie is starting here at Calm Pittsburgh for her practicum and is interested in learning more about eating disorders and peri and postnatal depression/anxiety/PTSD. She also has an interest in working with athletes during their years of participation within sports along with their transition out of being an active student athlete. Mackenzie was an athlete herself for many years, she rowed competitively for 10 years starting in middle school and continuing for both her high school and collegiate programs. As a new graduate student entering the realm of clinical practice Mackenzie’s goal is to learn as much as she can from the clinicians around her to grow as a future therapist. She hopes to utilize an empathetic, person-centered approach with clients and explore how past experiences and negative belief systems can affect an individual’s daily life. Mackenzie hopes to learn and grow as a therapist within the Calm Pittsburgh community and provide an environment where clients feel safe, respected, comfortable and welcome to be their authentic selves.
