Mary Swope is a graduate student at Robert Morris University, earning her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. She has experience working with adults with various disabilities at a weekend camp and now works with young children on the autism spectrum in their schools and at home. Mary recently completed her practicum with Glade Run, where she worked in schools doing 1:1 therapy with middle and high school students with trauma.
As a graduate clinician, Mary focuses on an empathetic, person-centered approach with clients while exploring how past experiences and distorted/negative belief systems affect their day-to-day lives and decision-making. She finds importance in making sure her clients are aware of their strengths and work together to reach ever-expanding goals.
Mary's approach is not just about the sessions but about integrating therapy into daily life. She uses in-session discussions to teach skills and specific items to work on at home, ensuring that her clients are engaged and active in their therapy. Mary's foremost goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all individuals seeking self-improvement. She is a proud ally of LGBTQ+ and Poly/ENM/Kink communities, ensuring that everyone feels respected and secure in her practice.
